Call for papers: GERMAN COLONIALISM AND THE LAW; international conference in Windhoek, Namibia in April 2025
It is our pleasure to share the call for papers for the international conference on „German Colonialism and the Law“ to be held in April 2025 in Windhoek, Namibia.
The conference, hosted jointly by the Namibia University of Science and Technology and Humboldt-University of Berlin and co-organized by Professors Pilisano Masake (Windhoek) and our Director Florian Jeßberger (Berlin), aims to explore the role of law and the impact on law in the context of colonialism with a particular emphasis of the German colonial practice.
Paper proposals (including country reports) on, inter alia, colonial law, colonial remainders in the law of post-colonial states and (coping with) colonial injustice are welcome. The conference addresses in particular scholars (and practitioners with an academic interest) from the Global South.
If you are interested, please submit your abstract and a short bio no later than 15 November 2024 to leon.trampe@hu-berlin.de. Limited funding for travel expenses is available.
Please visit the project website for further details.
