After an excellent lecture and fruitful discussion at our kick-off event, we are glad to announce the second lunch lecture of the African-German Research Network for 2024 – this time together with the Humboldt International Criminal Law Discussion Group.
On 12 July 2024 (12:00 CET), Professor Hajer Gueldich will speak on the Malabo Protocol and the African Court of Justice and Human Rights: 10 Years After.
Professor Gueldich is a Professor of International Law at the University of Carthage (Tunisia) and Legal Counsel of the African Union as well as an appointed member of its team of Experts on Institutional Reform. Previously, she was an elected member of the African Union Commission on International Law.
The Protocol on the Statute of the African Court of Justice and Human Rights, better known as Malabo Protocol, celebrates its 10th anniversary. A few weeks ago, Angola became the first country to formally ratify the treaty. Professor Gueldich will provide insights into the status quo as well as the challenges and prospects for the development of the Protocol based on her many years of work in various positions in the African Union.
